MaxBet saves lives again! A revolutionary new project for MaxBet in social responsibility

MaxBet makes history every year by selecting, financing and carrying out social projects that bring real change in society and 2020 comes with a new challenge for the most important company in Romania - in the field of gambling operators.

If in 2019 MaxBet received national recognition from the authorities, journalists and public opinion for the construction of the first helipad in Bucharest, an investment of 1 million euros that saves lives every day, an investment that created a new standard in the health system, for 2020, MaxBet has chosen to continue to be involved in saving lives, changing destinies and creating new standards. We are talking about a large project in which MaxBet has decided to join the efforts of Hope and Homes for Children, one of the most important non-governmental organizations in Romania, for the deinstitutionalization of children.

Following the partnership signed the other day, MaxBet will contribute to the financing with 220,000 euros of the ambitious projects of Hope and Homes for Children. The organization has proposed the definitive closure of several placement centers in Romania. It is a vital step for these children to have a real chance at a normal life, because instead of a building that did not meet their needs for a long time - young people will be able to integrate into society and live in family-type homes. Children will live in an environment as close as possible to the family environment, will receive care, education, emotional support, counseling for the development of life skills and, where necessary, training for socio-professional integration.

With the help of 220,000 euros from MaxBet, Hope and Homes for Children will be able to build a family-type house in the process of closing orphanages across the country in one of the country residences, where the necessary approvals have been obtained. These family-type homes meet all modern standards and provide children an environment as close as possible to what it means to live in a family.

The decision for MaxBet to fully support the work of Hope and Homes for Children was a natural step precisely because for more than 21 years, Hope and Homes for Children Romania has brought hope to the lives of children raised in orphanages, where they never knew what ”home” really meant. Institutionalization leaves deep traces in the souls of these children, especially when their lives take place in large centers, where emotional connection with staff or colleagues is almost impossible. Distrust of one's own strength and that of others, lack of emotional and intellectual stimulation, feeling abandoned, all contribute to minimizing the chances of these children becoming adults with socially and emotionally functional lives. Currently, over 5,500 children are still institutionalized in 181 placement centers in Romania, and the mission of Hope and Homes for Children is to close all placement centers in the country by 2027.

MaxBet believes in the power of example that a good education for young people and that any investment in social responsibility projects is a change for the better.

”We strongly believe in bold projects, projects that change Romania for the better, that bring a real change in society and impose new standards. We are proud to be able to support Hope and Homes for Children and help a vulnerable segment, to give these children a real chance at a normal life. It's a natural step for us. For 15 years, MaxBet has been constantly investing in the Romanian health system, investing in education and in many other social and cultural projects from which all Romanians have something to earn. We invest in the good of others. These CSR investments are part of the values we respect. And every year, the amounts we donate are constantly growing because we see all the changes for the better that these projects bring”, said Ioana Bazavan, Operational Director of MaxBet Romania.

This belief brought MaxBet closer to Hope and Homes for Children and increased its desire to support the Foundation in its efforts to deinstitutionalize.

In Romania, Hope and Homes for Children has contributed, so far, directly or indirectly, to the closure of 58 old institutions (orphanages), has made it possible for young people and children to move from care in big institutions, in which they did not benefit from individual attention and affection, to systems based on the family concept, among whith the family type houses. Through the efforts of the Foundation and its partners, 110 family-type houses have been developed, 5,807 children have been removed from orphanages, and another 457 are to leave the orphanages that are being closed. So far, over 61,000 children have benefited from the services of Hope and Homes for Children Romania.

Through its social responsibility policy, MaxBet has been actively involved in numerous projects aimed at education, health, sports, but also in several social cases. One of the most daring projects carried out by the company was the construction of the first medical helipad on the terrace in Bucharest, at the University Hospital. After 9 months from the start of construction, the helipad became operational, and in the first month of operation, 26 patients were transferred by air using SMURD helicopters. This initiative was not a singular one in the field of health. MaxBet has dedicated itself to projects aimed at renovating sections of several hospitals in Bucharest and Timisoara, helped equip hospitals in Bucharest and Constanta with life-support equipment and donated medical equipment to help doctors remove head tumors.

2020 begins in full force for Maxbet, and the slogan - ”We save lives together” is more alive than ever. In the next period, new revolutionary projects that bring real change in society will be announced publicly.
